For denims in any shade of blue, denim lapis is a great complement. The stone is lapis, like the intense blue stone that has been used in jewelry since before the Egyptians, but this form is somewhat variegated and often lighter in color. It picks up not only the blues in denim, but also the texture of the fabric due to the variegation. Denim lapis is not widely used in the Midwest and makes a great gift if you are looking for something a little different. For dark denim and navy blues, blue adventurine and dumoterite are dark blue stones that match well.
